2017

For 2017 we have already been to Madeira (for a very chilled out holiday!) and are due to visit Romania and Switzerland later in the year plus a return to Elmley Marsh highly recommended if you like nature, wildlife or just peace and tranquillity!

Within the gallery pages you will find that I have used fairly broad divisions initially, so you will see plants (including flowers, orchids and fungi), places (currently includes The Vercors and The British Wildlife Centre), scenic (landscapes and seascapes), animals (mammals, birds, insects, amphibians and reptiles) and my showcase where I try to display my best images.

2016

We have just returned from The Pyrenees at the end of July with over 2500 images of butterflies, birds and landscapes. Fantastic weather, fantastic walking and amazing butterflies – we saw over 80 species and there will be a full review of the trip soon in my blog.

We booked with Borderline Holidays (Peter Derbyshire and Jude Lock) who arranged for us to stay at Hotel Le Central in Bareges where we were looked after exceptionally well by Alain and Christophe. The butterfly walks were amazing - there is nothing that Jude doesn't know about butterflies!

2015

During the last year we have been with Bob Brind-Surch for a bird of prey shoot (review to follow), and a trip to photograph crocodiles (again with Bob) at Crocodiles of the World in Oxfordshire! Well overdue review!

We went to Skye for two weeks (wet, windy with some sun!) calling at Glencoe and Eileen Donanon the way up. On Skye we arranged a trip with Wild About Skye for their “Grand Day Out” which involves an early morning boat trip followed by breakfast at Cafe Arriba and a full day wildlife spotting, mainly in the south of the island – this was brilliant. We also did a trip on Stardust II for White Tailed Eagles and were lucky enough to get very close (we saw 7 altogether).

Latest review of the weeks can be found here. Latest image news – lots of images to process so it may take a while, especially as I am still sorting the images from The Vercors Plateau where we had been with Naturetrek last year and there is now a new gallery for these images here.

I have been looking for a frame provider and think I have finally found one. The Company is Pictureframestudio and is based in Cheshire. The frames I have ordered will shortly have three limited edition hare prints from Mark Langley within them hanging on our wall! Marks drawings are some of the most detailed and lifelike we have ever seen.

Mirrorless Cameras

My latest project is investigating if any of the various manufacturers have a mirrorless system which will be able to give me the same quality of image and speed of autofocus as my Canon gear - I have now outruled the Sony range because of expense and lack of long glass and have settled on Fuji - amazing image quality and superb lenses. Another review to write!

Recently been with Bob Brind-Surch for a bird of prey shoot (review to follow), and a trip to photograph crocodiles (again with Bob) at Crocodiles of the World in Oxfordshire!

I have also recently taken delivery of an Apple Macbook Pro with retina display - had to take my trusty old HP laptop back to factory default again (once too many times) after it had slowed down too much - review posted here with my thoughts regarding the MacBook Pro

For this year (2015) we will be off to Skye for a couple of weeks and we are deep in planning for this one - plan to call at Glencoe and Eileen Donan castle on the way up. We are also trying to arrange a trip with Wild About Skye for their "Grand Day Out" which involves an early morning boat trip followed by breakfast and a full day wildlife spotting, mainly in the south of the island.

I am still sorting the images from The Vercors Plateau where we had been with Naturetrek earlier in the year and there is now a new gallery for these images here. As I took over 2000 images during the week this may take a while to complete - please check back periodically (or sign up for the newsletter) to see my progress. All the landscape and butterfly ones done - just started on the orchids of which there were many!

Need to catch up with all the images and my blog has been neglected recently too. All things to be sorted as we enter the winter months and as the nights get longer I should have more time!

I have just had a complete rework of my prices and products for sale and I have removed all the mugs etc and now just concentrate on selling fine art and photographic prints.
