Queen of Spain Fritillary - Issoria lathonia

The Queen of Spain Fritillary is a very rare migrant to the UK. It is known to have strong migratory habits and strong colonies do exist just across the English Channel in France. During the 1990's it is thought that the species had a small breeding colony which survived for several years in Suffolk until the colony died out and there were reports of it breeding in Sussex in the last couple of years.
